Carlos and Isabel: Music for a wedding

The project “Carlos and Isabel: Music for a Wedding” by the association Francisco Guerrero is intended to commemorate the musical pieces performed for the procession and the church wedding ceremony of the imperial wedding of Charles I of Spain and Isabella of Portugal 500 years ago in Seville. The program was compiled at that time by Francisco de Peñalosa, canon of Seville Cathedral.
The concert will be performed on replicas of historical instruments and features polyphonic works by composers associated with the Royal Chapel, including instrumental pieces by their teacher Antonio de Cabezón, motets by Cristóbal de Morales—a Seville-born singer of the Sistine Chapel—and Christmas carols from the Cancionero de la Colombina, a manuscript now preserved in Seville Cathedral.
