SWEETER THAN ROSES – New project with the highly acclaimed tenor Michael Schade
Fahmi Alqhai & Accademia del Piacere together with tenor Michael Schade take audiences on a journey through the music of two of England’s greatest composers, John Dowland and Henry Purcell. The programme traces the evolution from the intimate melancholy of Dowland’s lute songs to Purcell’s dazzling theatrical world, featuring iconic works such as Lachrimae, King Arthur, The Fairy Queen, and beloved songs including Music for a While and Fairest Isle. The concert culminates with excerpts from Purcell’s ceremonial odes, where the viol consort showcases the full richness and distinctive sonority of the English musical tradition.
